“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.” – Matthew 7:24 (NLT)
Beloved of God, an examination of the Book of Genesis Chapters 1 and 2 reveals that after God created Adam, He planted a Garden and placed him to work it and take care of it. God also gave Adam the task of naming all the livestock in the Garden. It must also be noted that before God put Adam to sleep and took out one of his ribs to create his wife Eve (Genesis 2:21-23), he was involved in animal and crop husbandry before he became a husband.
It is evident, therefore, that in the beginning God created the foundation of a nuclear family construct that sets the foundation template of all mankind, which is as follows: Man, Work, Wife, and then Family. From the foregoing, it is acknowledged that the family is one of the institutional pillars created by God. In 1st Corinthians 11:3-16 (NLT), He (God) outlined the submission to authority order in the home, “…The head of every man is Christ, the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God.”
It is God’s intention that Fathers be the foundation of their families, because such foundations collectively evolve to be a strong bedrock of any society. The importance of a foundation should never be under-emphasised. If a house does not have a foundation first, no walls, columns, ceilings, or roof can be erected. If the foundation is faulty, because of sub-standard materials, the entire house will collapse with everyone inside. So it is when fathers abscond from their roles as the foundation of their families.
The foundation of a family becomes weak when:
- The father is not responsible
- He is addicted to drugs and alcohol
- He is involved in adulterous practices
- He wastes his earnings on gambling
- His job, business, and/or Ministry takes priority over his family
- His wife is disrespectful to his headship and refuses to submit to his leadership
- He joins an occultist organisation, and satan is now his head.
In today’s world, the devil is trying very hard to destroy the foundation of the family by removing the father from the helm within the construct of a marriage and has introduced other godless constructs such as cohabitation and civil unions. But let us pray for all the fathers who have abandoned their families, that they repent and ask for the wisdom of God, as they embark on the mission of restoration.
